Thank you for visiting my website! My name is Wolff Shipp. I'm a local North Carolina independent insurance agent and the principal agent of Cold Mountain Insurance. I spent most of my early career learning “world class” customer service as a Service Manager with the Cintas Corporation in Baltimore, Maryland. After moving to Wilmington, NC in 2014, I struggled to find employment that would support my family. On the suggestion of a close family friend, I studied and attained my insurance license in North Carolina with lines of authority in property, casualty, life and health Insurance. I'm now licensed in the states of North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Texas, and Ohio.
I call Wilmington, NC my home. When not helping clients with their auto, home, business, health, and other insurance at my Bolivia, NC office in Brunswick County, you may find me fishing at Wrightsville Beach or throwing a cast net during the low tide at Fort Fisher.
How I got started
During the first 9 years of my insurance career, I worked for several fantastic Wilmington, NC area insurance agencies. I started my insurance career working for Mr. Greg Ochipa at his State Farm agency in Wilmington, NC. I learned the basics of selling and servicing insurance, including life insurance as well as property and casualty insurance. Working for Greg gave me a firm foundation in the insurance industry that I carry with me to this day.
My next career move brought me to a position as an agent at a local GEICO field office in Porters Neck, NC working for Mr. Patrick Punzalan. The extremely high paced call volume and strict operating guidelines gave me real world experience that could not be duplicated in a school or a training facility. I learned to quickly and efficiently guide each client to the correct coverage for their individual situation and to maximize every moment during the insurance assessment conversation.
After a year at GEICO, I was recruited to my role as the Director of Personal and Commercial lines for Mr. David Li and his Triple AAA insurance agency, David Insurance Group in Wilmington, NC. During my 5 years working for David Li, I learned every aspect of running and building an independent insurance agency. While working for David Insurance Group / AAA insurance, I represented many great companies including Progressive, Allstate, Nationwide, National General, The Hartford, Travelers and many more. I also created and improved many of the systems that are still in use today.
Before founding my agency Cold Mountain Insurance, I had the honor of spending some time with Wells Insurance in Wilmington, NC. Even though my time there was short, I met many great people and got to see firsthand how a 100-year-old, well run organization operates. It was a privilege to work under Jared Cranford, Laura Knowles and Matt Priddle in the personal lines department. I’m thankful for my experiences with them and will never forget my time there.
