Where Simon’s Story Began
🎮 Early Career: Hollywood Stuntman
Simon’s first big break came as a stunt double for the legendary arcade icon Pac-Man. Agile, fearless, and perfectly round for the role, Simon handled high-risk chase scenes involving overly dramatic “ghost” actors. Unfortunately, during one particularly intense take, an over-zealous ghost got a little too method… and Simon was sidelined with an injury that forced early retirement from stunt work.
☣️ Modeling Days: Mr. Yuck
Never one to stay down for long, Simon pivoted into modeling. His first major campaign? The iconic “Mr. Yuck” sticker, helping protect kids everywhere from household hazards. It was meaningful work, but deep down Simon knew he was meant for something bigger.
🙂 The Smiley Face Era
That breakthrough came when he landed the coveted role as the model for the world-famous “Smiley Face” sticker. Suddenly Simon was everywhere... lockers, notebooks, lunchboxes. The pay was great. The fame was fun. But the acting bug still lingered.
🎬 Hollywood Moment
In 1994, Simon snagged a supporting cameo in the blockbuster hit Forrest Gump, playing the unforgettable “Have a Nice Day” t-shirt guy. It was subtle. It was powerful. It was peak 90s cinema.
☕ The Southport Turning Point
Then destiny intervened.
While vacationing in Southport, NC, Simon wandered into Port City Java, where he met Cold Mountain Insurance founder Wolff Shipp. The two hit it off instantly. Over coffee and conversation about risk, resilience, and reinvention, a new vision was born.
Wolff saw what the world had always sensed, Simon wasn’t just a symbol of happiness… he was a symbol of hope, optimism, and second chances.
🏔️ A New Mission
Soon after, Simon accepted his biggest role yet: Brand Ambassador and Spokesperson for Cold Mountain Insurance.
Now, instead of dodging ghosts, he helps North Carolinians dodge overpaying on auto, home, boat, RV, and small business insurance. Because when you’ve survived Hollywood, hazardous chemicals, and interpretive dance…
